Lets give them something to talk about movie part 1

I purchased the recommended bridge see below and was able to install it by following the directions provided. Some extra time was required running back and forth between the computer and the player to set up the Sony and Netflix accounts and entering passwords, etc. , but this was not a difficult process. Picture quality is exceptional, what I expected from a Bluray player. There are a couple of things however, that Sony should do to make lets give them something to talk about movie part 1 Bluray player an exceptional unit: The wifi apparatus and BD memory requirements should be built into the unit. The lets give them something to talk about movie part 1 reasons people want to buy a player like this is to take advantage of video streaming, wifi connectability and BD features available from a Blueray DVD. To have to buy a wireless bridge and external memory seems ridiculous! By complicating the setup process, Sony significantly increases the likelihood of a bad experience from purchasers. Read the reviews Sony! While I did not experience any of the problems that I have read elsewhere, I think I was lucky. Put a disk eject button on the remote. Streamline the sign-up process. Why do users have to sign up at Sony and Netflix? Don t buy this player if you re afraid of techno-setups and don t want to pay extra 100 for the bridge and 12 for a 2G USB drive for required extra equipment. However, if you can set up a computer, you can handle the setup of this player. The payoff is access to an amazing amount of high quality, easily accessed video and superb picure quality. Bottom line: The Blueray is great. Picture quality on a BRAVIA 52 inch and surround sound on a BOSE are incredible! Also the DVD upscaling is fantastic. It really exceeded my expectations. I think the upscaling alone made this a worth while purchase which is amazing because that is not why I purchased this product! CAUTION: The video streaming using Netflix or whatever is great if you can plug it in directly with a hard wire to your network. DO NOT BUY THE CISCO WIFI BRIDGE unless you happen to make a living as a network infrastructure technician! If you must have WIFI then you are better off with the Samsung or anything else with wireless capability built in. Luckily in my lets give them something to talk about movie part 1 I found a work around and ended up plugging in directly to my router. I love SONY. I am a longtime SONY buyer and I was biased to buy this even though it doesn t offer a WIFI capability. I even sprang for the WIFI bridge offered by CISCO/LINKSYS that Sony recommends because it is optimized for video streaming. I am also a netflix subscriber so I thought perfect. Long story short is that the CISCO bridge is a pain to set-up. I returned it. It isn t even compatible with a MAC unless you manually set it up with the help of someone over the phone in India. WHich I tried to do but as soon as they heard I didn t have a Linksys router/DSL modem they didn t really know how to help me. I ended up moving my DSL modem/router to behind my TV and plugged it into my Blue-ray directly. Probably a better solution anyway but annoying that the bridge isn t plug and play in 2010! AND WHY WOULD SONY NOT BUILD IN WIFI? Apple TV does it! Wii does it! Xbox does it! AND YOU KNOW WHAT? They are all plug and play!!!! Can you imagine inserting a disc in your computer to configure a wireless device like the CISCO bridge? Crazy. Apparently CISCO can!!!!! I guess we are all so spoiled by technology that when something bone headed like this comes along there is no mercy. I purchased a 47 Phillips HD TV a month ago and wanted to upgrade from an old Sony 5 Dvd/player Changer. The old Sony DVD looked pretty decent on the new TV but I really wanted all the internet on demand features and of course the picture quality of Blu Ray. So I checked out all the ones with good reviews here on Amazon. Even looked at them at Best Buy. I always had luck with Sony products so gave it shot. Could not be happier. My house is cat5 wired already so hooking up the internet connection was EASY! I AM A MAC PERSON with an airport router comcast as my internet provider but this player you do need to hardwire from your router.
